I recently attended a retreat where one of the presenters shared the idea that, as women, we often give our stories away. This statement immediately struck a chord with me, as I found myself resonating deeply with the concept.
For me, giving my story away meant living according to other people’s ideals and rules. It also meant checking off all the boxes created by society that I thought would lead to fulfillment. But instead of feeling fulfilled, I only lost myself along the way.
My days were filled with activities that didn’t bring me joy, and my goals were more about meeting others’ expectations than fulfilling my own desires. I felt a constant sense of disconnect, as if I were playing a role in a play rather than living my true life.
When I finally grew tired of doing ALL the things and still feeling unfulfilled, I realized I was chasing a sense of fulfillment that was misaligned with my inner desires and passions. In truth, I didn’t even know what my inner desires and passions were.
It was then that I began to see how much of my life was influenced by external voices. I realized that in giving my story away, I had lost touch with my own voice.
Reclaiming my story started by breaking free from external influences and embracing my true identity. This has been a process of rediscovery and leaning into SELF.
It is definitely a work in progress, but one that brings me a profound sense of fulfillment as I am creating a life that genuinely reflects who I am.
Are you ready to reclaim your story? Take a moment to reflect on your journey and ask yourself if you are living in alignment with your true desires and passions.
I encourage you to break free from the external influences and create a life that genuine.
