When We Crave Simplicity, We Are After Life

I recently came across this quote by Dave Bruno:

“When we crave simplicity, we are not after an easier life. We are after life.”

It landed in me like a truth I’ve known all along but hadn’t yet put into words.

For so long, I equated simplicity with ease—less to manage, fewer responsibilities, a lighter load. And while that’s part of it, I now see that true simplicity isn’t about escaping effort; it’s about stripping away what isn’t life-givingIt’s about shedding the noise, the obligations, and the stories that keep me from the pulse of what really matters.

This craving for simplicity isn’t about laziness. It’s about presence. About being so fully alive in this one precious existence that there’s no room for the unnecessary.

I see it in the work I do with women. When they come to me feeling lost in the chaos of “what’s next,” it’s not because they want an easier path—it’s because they want a truer one. They’re seeking clarity, not shortcuts. Depth, not convenience. Aliveness, not just relief.

Simplicity is a return. To the breath. To the body. To the wild knowing that has always been there beneath the distractions.

This year, I’m choosing that kind of simplicity. The kind that clears space for what actually matters. More real conversations. More being in nature. More laughter. More spaciousness. More of what makes life feel like mine.

What about you? What could you release to create more life in your days?
