Surrender Gets A Bad Rap

When you hear the word surrender, what comes to mind? For many, it carries the weight of giving up or losing control. But what if surrender could feel like coming home—a gentle invitation to yield to, rather than resist, the natural flow of life?

As someone who’s spent years guiding others to reclaim their true selves, I’ve learned that resistance often comes from fear—fear of change, fear of losing control, fear of not knowing what’s next. But what if surrender isn’t about losing anything? What if it’s about gaining a deeper trust in ourselves and in the unfolding of our lives?

I’ve seen surrender in the quiet wisdom of a horse, moving with grace and instinct, attuned to the rhythm of its environment. I’ve felt it in the moments when I’ve stopped pushing so hard and allowed clarity to arise on its own. I’ve witnessed it in the women I’ve worked with, as they release their grip on outdated narratives and embrace the wild, unbridled truth of who they are.

Surrender isn’t passive. It’s courageous. It asks us to stop fighting the currents of life and instead learn to flow with them. It’s about leaning into the unknown with curiosity, even when it feels uncomfortable. It’s about trusting that what’s meant for us will find its way, not because we forced it, but because we made space for it.

This has been a season of surrender for me. Whether it’s releasing old expectations, honoring a deep loss, or stepping into new opportunities, I’ve found myself asking: What if I yield here? What if I stop resisting? What might unfold if I simply allow?

If this idea of surrender speaks to you, I invite you to take a moment to pause. Ask yourself: Where in my life am I resisting the flow? What might happen if I yield instead?

Surrender doesn’t mean giving up—it means giving in to the wisdom of life itself.
